The Austin Reed flagship store, on Regent Street in London, reflects a true quality of design and finish sometimes neglected in retail lighting applications. The scheme, designed by Campbell Design, incorporates ACDC's Covelite system in a less obvious, but nevertheless fabulously effective application, creating a huge lightbox illuminating the stores’ 'Garden Room'.
The blue and white were to crossfade giving an essence of clouds moving across a blue sky and the changing light conditions that rhis scene provides. ACDC provided a scene setting dimmer to fade between the blue and white with a rich lilac colour created between as the lamps dimmed from one to the next.
ACDC installed over 300 metres of Coldstar II Covelite on this application, where dimming and maintenance were again key factors in using cold cathode. Without this solution the backlit roof panel would be extremely difficult to maintain, especially due to its height and awkward position within the retail environment.
