This old Town Hall, in the Steel City of Sheffield, is an excellent example of an unintrusive lighting scheme. Rather than simply bathing the building with low level floodlighting, designers Equation chose to focus on the specific building details, using luminaires to pick out individual features. The result is a classic lighting scheme.
Over 250 metres of IP64 D-Linel Extrusion from ACDC was used to illuminate the four sides of the building. The housing, with integral control gear, was mounted at various points on the building façade to create an indirect halo wash of light. Longevity and continuity were critical factors with some lighting runs up to 25 metres in length, at heights of 15 to 20 metres.
